What is the maximum weekly dose in micrograms available for PBS subsidy of romiplostim?

10mcg/kg is the maximum dose. The prescriber should indicate how many vials are required for a maximum of one month’s treatment. If required, to calculate the number of vials able to be approved, weeks of treatment required, patient weight and dose can be entered into the romiplostim dosage calculator located on the master code sheet.

For an initial application how recent does the platelet count need to be?

Within four weeks of the application date.

On an authority request the prescriber has noted 375mcg vials. Is this a PBS subsidised strength?

Previously the 250mcg strength was known as 375mcg, similarly 500mcg was known as 625mcg. Check the master code sheet for further details.

Can a patient change medication after initial approval? For example, from avatrombopag or eltrombopag to romiplostim.

Yes, this can be done under the balance of supply or change of therapy restriction by telephone or self–service.
