Personal Assets Test for allowances, Austudy and independent Youth Allowance or ABSTUDY customers 108-01020030




This document outlines the Personal Assets Test for JobSeeker Payment (JSP), Austudy and independent Youth Allowance (YA) or ABSTUDY. The value of a customer's assets must be below the allowance Assets Test limits. Once a customer's assets are over the Assets Test limit, they do not qualify for payment.

Issue appropriate forms

Issue the appropriate forms according to the assets stated using the correct workflow in Process Direct or Customer First, see Requesting information (CLK)

The forms are:

YA and ABSTUDY dependent customers

Dependent YA and ABSTUDY customers are exempt from the application of the Assets Test as they are assessed under the Parental Means Test.

Is the dependent YA or ABSTUDY customer exempt from the Assets Test?

  • Yes,
    • The system will recognise that the customer is dependent and will automatically exempt them from the Assets Test
    • Procedure ends here
  • No, go to Step 4
