Financial investment definition

For income and asset test purposes, a financial investment includes:

  • cash
  • deposit money
  • a managed investment. This includes margin loans
  • a listed security
  • a loan not repaid in full
  • an unlisted public security
  • gold, silver or platinum bullion
  • an asset-tested income stream (short term)
  • some account-based income streams, depending on the purchase date
  • Home Equity Access Scheme advance payments
