This document outlines information on claiming the Commonwealth Senior Health Card (CSHC).

Eligibility for the CSHC

To be eligible for the CSHC a customer must meet all eligibility criteria. See Eligibility for a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card (CSHC).

Claiming Commonwealth Seniors Health Card (CSHC)

Customers must be encouraged to complete a claim for a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card (CSHC) via a digital channel. See Claiming Commonwealth Seniors Health Card.

Entitlement on the CSHC

The CSHC may entitle the cardholder to:

  • discounts on prescription medicines listed under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS)
  • bulk-billed General Practitioner (GP) appointments at the discretion of the GP
  • reduced out-of-hospital medical expenses through the Medicare Safety Net

In some instances, additional health, household, transport, education and recreation concessions may be offered by state or territory and local governments and private providers. However, these providers offer these concessions at their own discretion, and the availability of these concessions may vary from state to state.
