Components of Age Pension payments

Age Pension is an income support payment for people who have reached retirement age. It is a taxable payment which is paid to a customer's account on a fortnightly basis.

Age Pension is made up of the basic pension plus the Pension Supplement. The rate of Age Pension depends on the customer's relationship status and is subject to the pension income and assets tests.

Age Pension customers may also be eligible for:

  • Rent Assistance, depending on their accommodation circumstances
  • Energy Supplement
  • A Pensioner Concession Card
  • A lump sum advance, an interest-free advance payment
  • Remote Area Allowance, if the customer is living in a remote area
