This document outlines change of circumstances for Age Pension customers.

Notifiable event

A change in the customer's circumstances which affects their qualification or payability for payment is a notifiable event.

Customers must notify Services Australia within the 14 day (28 days if living outside Australia) notification period if any of the following events occur, or are likely to occur:

  • starts or returns to work
  • a change to bank details
  • customer changes relationship status
  • leaving Australia, permanently or temporarily
  • change of address
  • their (or their partner's) income or assets increase or decrease
  • their partner reaches Age Pension age. The customer must advise of their partner’s superannuation details, even if they are not receiving a payment from Services Australia

Changes relating to aged care

Follow specific processes:

  • for changes relating to an aged care home, or
  • if the customer is separated from their partner due to respite care or illness
