Examples of supported resident ratio calculations
Table 1: this table provides examples of the impact of supported resident ratio calculations on the payments of accommodation supplements.
Note: the reduction of accommodation supplements by the care recipient’s accommodation contribution occurs after any applicable Supported resident ratio reductions.
Scenario | Outcome of Supported resident ratio calculation |
On or after 1 October 2022 – aged care service calculated supported resident ratio was 28% for the full month. | Accommodation supplement payments are reduced by 25%. |
On or after 1 October 2022 – aged care service calculated supported resident ratio was 35% for part of the month and increased to 41% for part of the month. | Accommodation supplement payments are not reduced. |
On or after 1 October 2022 – aged care service calculated supported resident ratio was 63% for the full month. | Accommodation supplement payments are not reduced. |
Prior to 1 October 2022 – aged care service calculated supported resident ratio was 33% for every day in the month. | Accommodation supplements reduced by 25% for every day in the month. |
Prior to 1 October 2022 – aged care service calculated supported resident ratio was 33% for 7 days, 39% for 14 days and 40.01 % for the remainder of the days in the month. | Accommodation supplements reduced by 25% for all days under 40.01%, and all days equal to or above 40.01% - the accommodation supplements are not reduced. |
