Child Support (Assessment) Act 1989

Service Officer (SO3)

SO3 authorisations:

  • process an application for an extension of child support for secondary students
  • relevant decision making

Note: this does not prevent an officer at the Service Officer (SO2) level who has the support of their team leader from carrying out this type of work. However, the final decision to either accept or refuse the application must be by an officer at the SO3 level or above.

Service Officer (SO4) and above

SO4 and above authorisations:

  • accept or refuse a late application (after child's 18th birthday) for assessment/agreement to continue in exceptional circumstances
