Ceasing Australian Taxation Office (ATO) tax deductions 103-08030020

This document outlines how a customer is able to cease Australian Taxation Office (ATO) tax deductions from their income support payments or Parental Leave Pay (PPL), and how to action such a request.

Income support payments

The request to cease a tax deduction can be made using self-service online, over the phone or in writing, either in a letter or a statement.

ATO tax deductions are stopped by coding the Tax Instructions (PITX) screen.

Details of the request including the source of the request and the date it takes effect from are documented on the customer's record.

PPL

The default tax rate is 15%, unless the customer receives PPL from their employer. Customers can nominate a different tax rate between 0-50% by using Online Services or by contacting by phone or in person.

Customers receiving PPL from their employer will need to contact their employer to discuss their tax rate.
