Review objection 277-09170020

This document outlines the process for reviewing the content of a Child Support objection to make sure it meets the criteria for a valid objection. The procedure is for Child Support Objections Officers at all levels (APS4 – APS6).

What a customer can object to

A customer can object to decisions made by the Child Support officers. They cannot object to the legislation.

The References page contains links to The Child Support Guide to provide more information.

Types of objections

  • General objections – Objections to general child support decisions, excluding objections to care decisions. They must be made in writing. The customer can lodge a written objection by mail, e-mail, fax or via online services
  • Care objection - Objections to care decisions may be lodged by phone or in writing. For care objections lodged by phone, see Care objections
  • Part 6A objections – Objections to Change of Assessment in special circumstances decisions
