This document explains how to help applicants complete the Assistance for Isolated Children (AIC) Marginal Distance Confirmation (SY069) form. It also outlines how the form is assessed by AIC Smart Centre staff.
Completing the SY069
If the distance or the travel time from a student's principal family home to the nearest appropriate school is close to the AIC qualifying limits, applicants may need to have the SY069 completed by one of the following authorities:
- local bus company proprietor
- local shire clerk/engineer
- local/state/national roads, water and/or land management authority
The applicant needs to complete Questions 1 to 5.
The appropriate authority is to complete the remaining questions, including the declaration which requires all of the following:
- the authority's name
- the staff member's name, contact phone number and signature
- the date
Lodgement
The form can be lodged by using any of the following options:

Online - using the Upload documents service
- Post - using the address shown on the form
- In person - at a service centre, or in remote areas, with an Agent of Centrelink field officer
