Change in study

Geoff's parent is currently receiving AIC Distance Education Allowance (DED).

An enrolment check was received in Term 2 for Geoff from the distance education provider. The enrolment check indicated that Geoff ceased study on the 20 March 2025. The applicant was contacted and confirmed that Geoff ceased on this date. The applicant also provided a registration certificate for home schooling QLD. The registration date was 12 May 2025.

Due to the change is study, Geoff has had a gap in entitlement.

2025 Distance Education Allowance: $5,169

Daily Rate: $5,169/365 = $14.1616

Term 1 entitlement period 01/01/2025 - 31/03/2025 (90 days): $14.1616 x 90 = $1,274.54

Term 1 entitlement for Geoff 01/01/2025 - 20/03/2025 (79 days): 79 x $14.1616 = $1,118.77

Overpayment period: 21/03/2025 to 31/03/2025 (11 days): 11 x $14.1616 = $155.78

The overpayment for Term 1: $1,274.54 - $1,118.77 = $155.77

Term 2 entitlement

The start date for Term 2 is 22 April 2025.

Geoff commenced Term 2 on 12 May 2025.

As Geoff commenced more than 14 days from the Term 2 start date, AIC can only be paid from 12 May 2025.

Term 2 entitlement period 01/04/2025 - 30/06/2025 (91 days): $14.1616 x 91 = $1,288.71

Term 2 entitlement for Geoff 12/05/2025 - 30/06/25 (50 days) = 50 x $14.1616 = $708.08

Overpayment period: 01/04/2025 - 11/05/2025 (41 days) = 41 x 14.1616 = $580.63
