Payment choices and eligibility for the EMSN FTB Part A threshold

Once a family becomes eligible for EMSN FTB Part A threshold they are eligible for the remainder of that calendar year. That is, even if FTB Part A payments stop during that calendar year.

get a fortnightly FTB Part A payment

eligibility for the EMSN FTB Part A threshold starts from the date of their first fortnightly payment for the rest of that calendar year.

If a family gets a FTB Part A payment on 1 February 2025, they are considered eligible:

  • for the EMSN FTB Part A threshold from 1 February 2025
  • for the remainder of the 2025 calendar year

get a lump sum payment for the previous financial year and they are paid the lump sum payment by 31 December of the current calendar year

they are eligible for the EMSN FTB Part A threshold from the beginning of the following calendar year.

get a lump sum payment for the previous financial year and they are paid the lump sum payment after 31 December (that is, payment is received in the next calendar year)

they are eligible for the EMSN FTB Part A threshold from the date they get the payment for the remainder of that calendar year.

To define the difference between a fortnightly payment, deferred payment (F and D) and an annual payment (A and C).

Payments will show as follows on the RFTB screen:

  • Value of F in the PAYMENT DATE field is populated with the fortnightly payment date and the FNL YEAR field is populated with the value of N/A
  • Value of D in the PAYMENT DATE field is populated with the deferred date and the FNL YEAR field is populated with the value of N/A
  • Values of A or C in both the PAYMENT DATE field and FNL YEAR field is populated with the date and year
  • Value of T in the PAYMENT DATE field and FNL YEAR FNL Year N/A or 2004
  • Value of U in the Payment Type field FNL Year 2004
  • Value of W in the Payment Type field FNL year 2004
