Is there an age restriction for patients applying for PBS-subsidised treatment of NF1 under initial or grandfather criteria?

Yes. Patients must be aged between 2 and 18 years:

  • to apply under the initial treatment criteria
  • before starting non-PBS-subsidised treatment for NF1 to apply under the grandfather treatment criteria

Is there an age restriction for patients applying for PBS-subsidised treatment of NF1 under continuing criteria?

No. There is no age limitation under continuing criteria.

Are questions and answers (Q&A) attached to relevant restrictions of NF1 available in the National Drug Reference Database (NDRD)?

No. NF1 authority applications are assessed by Dynamic Q&A in the Online PBS Authorities (OPA) system.
