This document outlines the procedural details of when an Income and Assets (MOD iA) is issued to a customer and how to assess and code the income and assets the form collects.
Purpose of MOD iA
The MOD iA is used to get information about a customer's (and/or their partner's) income and assets.
The form is issued when the customer's income and assets are needed, normally claims only.
Income information from MOD iA
The MOD iA form has questions about income as follows:
- gross money earned from employment
- rent or board received
- compensation or damages
- income replacement insurance (personal accident and sickness insurance)
- income from life interests
- gratuities
- income from other Australian Government departments
- income from trusts
- income from a business
- payments from income stream products, such as annuities, allocated products and superannuation pensions
Assets information from MOD iA
The MOD iA form has questions about assets as follows:
- cars
- boats
- caravans
- some of the money received from a loan secured against a home
- home furniture
- jewellery
- gold/silver bullion
- stamp collections
- money in bank, building society or credit union accounts
- shares, bonds or debentures
- money in trust or insurance accounts
- money in other financial institutions
- money that has been loaned
- superannuation or rollover investments for customers of Age Pension age
- income stream products
Verifying information provided in the MOD iA
The MOD iA requests supporting documentation to be provided to confirm the income and investments declared.
