Age eligibility for JobSeeker Payment (JSP) and Youth Allowance (job seeker) 001-03010020
This document outlines the age requirements to qualify for JobSeeker Payment (JSP) or Youth Allowance (YA) (job seeker).
JobSeeker Payment (JSP) age eligibility
To be of eligible age for JSP, a customer must be 22 years and over, and under Age Pension age. The Resources page contains a link to the Services Australia website for information on eligibility basics for Age Pension.
Minimum age for YA (job seeker) eligibility
Minimum age for YA is 16 years (or 15 years if independent and above the minimum school leaving age for the State/Territory).
Maximum age for YA (job seeker) eligibility
The maximum age to be eligible for YA is 21 years for job seeker customers or 25 years for full-time students undertaking a course of education. See also minimum and maximum ages of YA student and Australian Apprentice.
