PaTH Internship Programme 001-17021400
This document provides historical information about the PaTH Internship Programme including the objectives of participation in the programme and who was eligible to participate. PaTH was a 4 to 12 week internship placement that sought to give job seekers under 25 years of age employability skills and real work experience.
Cessation of the PaTH Internship
Following a government announcement, from 1 July 2022 providers have ceased making referrals to the PaTH Internship Programme. PaTH was ceased with effect from 01 October 2022, as announced in the Federal Budget on 25 October 2022. Participants who were current on 1 July 2022 continued in their placement until they reached their end date or were exited for any reason.
Objectives of the PaTH Internship Programme
The objective of the PaTH Internship Programme was to address barriers to employment by providing opportunities for job seekers that increased their chances of obtaining sustainable employment. Participants received the $200 fortnightly PaTH Internship payment.
PaTH Internship Programme eligibility
Job seekers with mutual obligation or participation requirements were eligible to participate if they:
- were receiving any of the following income support payments
- JobSeeker Payment (JSP)
- Youth Allowance (YA) (other)
- Special Benefit (SpB)
- Parenting Payment Single (PPS)
- Disability Support Pension (DSP)
and
- were aged 17 to 24 and already serviced in either:
- Transition to Work (TtW)
- Disability Employment Services (DES), or
- Workforce Australia Provider Services
or
- were aged 17 to 24 and already serviced in:
- Workforce Australia Online for Individuals, and
- had received 2 months (63 days) of Online services or had participated in an Employability Skills Training (EST) course or were participating in a Workforce Specialist activity
Coding
The PaTH Internship approved activity automatically appeared on the Activity and Exemption Summary (AEX) screen as PTH and included start and expected end dates. PaTH Internship payments appeared on the Payment Summary (PS) screen as PII.
