Description

1

Am I eligible or why am I not getting the higher rate?

Check the NSS Rate Explanation (NREX) screen.

Customers are not entitled to an increase in payment if they are already getting the higher rate because they are:

  • single with child/ren, or
  • 55 years of age and 9 months continuity

Check the:

  • customer’s marital status. Only single customers are entitled to the higher rate
  • Check the Customer Target Category History (CTCH) screen, this will display the customers current category
  • Work Capacity (WC) screen. Customers will only get the higher rate if both the 'Baseline Capacity' and 'Capacity within 24 months with intervention' is less than 15 hours per week

2

Am I eligible for the increase if I have a medical exemption?

No. Customers must have an assessed Partial Capacity to Work of 0-14 hours per week to get the higher rate of payment.

Customers will only get the higher rate if both the 'Baseline Capacity' and 'Capacity within 24 months with intervention' is less than 15 hours per week.

3

Am I eligible for the increase if I have a temporary reduced work capacity?

No. Eligibility for the higher rate is not determined by temporary reduced work capacity. However, if the customer also has a PCW of less than 15 hours per week and meets the criteria explained above, they may be eligible for the higher rate.

4

How do I know how many hours my assessed capacity to work is?

To answer the customer’s question, use the:

  • Employment Services Assessment (EsAT) Report or Jobs Capacity Assessment, and/or
  • Work Capacity Details (WC) screen

5

I have a partial capacity to work, why am I not eligible for the higher rate of payment?

Only single JSP and SpB customers with a PCW of 0-14 hours per week (both baseline and future capacity with intervention) are eligible for the higher rate of payment.

6

My medical condition has deteriorated. What do I do?

Customers can be referred for a new ESAt if the customer provides:

  • evidence of a new illness, injury or disability which effects their work capacity
  • evidence showing their previously assessed medical condition has deteriorated (for example, a spinal condition that has worsened)

See Determining when an Employment Services Assessment (ESAt) is required
