Events that will end a court ordered maintenance liability
Child Support may receive information indicating an order could be ended. This information may be provided verbally or in writing from either the payee, payer or via a third party such as a family member, a legal representative, Centrelink or the courts.
Circumstances which may require the order to end are:
- a child is adopted
- a child marries or enters into a de facto relationship
- child turning 18 years of age
- the payee marrying or remarrying
- death of a child
- death of a person liable to pay, and
- death of a person entitled to receive payments
