Centrelink payments
  • Taxable payments are included for Child Support purposes, Check which Centrelink payments are taxable via the Services Australia website. See Taxable payments
  • Some specific tax-free payments are included for Child Support purposes. See Child support Guide 1.1.T.30 Tax-free pension or benefit
  • If customers are unsure of which Centrelink payment they receive, Service Officers can check the Customer First system to confirm
Employment Termination Payments (ETP)
  • Lump Sum D amounts of an ETP are generally tax-free, and do not count as ATI in a formula assessment. Confirmed, tax-free lump sum D parts of an ETP should therefore not be included in a YTD or estimate period
  • Other components of an ETP may be partially or fully taxable depending on the specific circumstances of the customer
  • Taxable components of an ETP do count as ATI in a formula assessment. Confirmed taxable components of an ETP should therefore be included in a YTD or estimate period
  • Customers should consult with the ATO or a taxation accountant to determine how much of an ETP is taxable
