This document outlines the process for Child Support to notify Centrelink when a mutual customer dies and how to complete Liable Parent Deceased (LPD) coding in Customer First.

Bereavement Service Offer: Notification of death to Centrelink and LPD coding Customer First

The Bereavement Service offer enables Child Support to share information with Centrelink regarding the death of a mutual customer.

Notification of death to Centrelink

When notified of a death of a mutual customer, the information is shared with Centrelink when the deceased customer is in receipt of a Centrelink benefit, and Centrelink do not have information surrounding the passing of the customer. To check if the death has already been recorded in Customer First, see Confirmation of death for Child Support customers, Table 2 > Step 1.

The Resources page has a link to the Services Australia website.

LPD coding in Customer First

LPD stands for Liable Parent Deceased.

When this code is recorded on Customer First, it makes sure that the customer is not required to take any maintenance action against the deceased parent and prevents their Family Tax Benefit Part (A) being impacted.

Once proof of death has been confirmed, before running eligibility in Cuba to end the case, pre-checks are required to determine if LPD coding in Customer First is required.

To check if LPD coding has already been recorded in Customer First see Table 2 > Step 2 .
