This document outlines the Vocational and Educational Guidance Assistance Scheme (VEGAS) which provides grants to sponsoring organisations to conduct projects for Indigenous students, their parents and prisoners in lawful custody.

Aim of the scheme

These grants aim to foster positive attitudes towards participation in education and provide information to assist students to consider their options for further study and careers.

Administration

VEGAS is administered by the Department of Education as part of the Indigenous Education (Targeted Assistance) Act 2000 (IETA). Further information is available from the Indigenous Education Units (IEU) in the Department of Education offices, or by going to the Department of Education website.
