Payment is subject to a personal income test and parental income test depending on the customer's circumstances. If an apprentice claims a LAFHA payment, the income will preclude them from receiving their income support payment for that period from Centrelink, and vice versa. If the customer is making a new claim the payment may be granted and the income from LAFHA will reduce the customers entitlement to a nil rate for the period the LAFHA applies.
