student turns 16 during the term

a pro-rata payment of School Term Allowance will be paid where 85 per cent attendance is calculated on the amount of school days in the term before the student's 16th birthday.

student discontinues study during a school term

there is no entitlement to the next instalment of School Term Allowance if 85 per cent attendance was not achieved during the term in which the student discontinued studies.

student changes school during a school term

there is no entitlement to more than the relevant maximum rates per term where a change in school occurs.

student leaves private board or hostel during the term

School Term Allowance is payable in the term for any period in which a payment of boarding entitlements has not already been made.

student leaves a boarding school during the term for which a term's entitlements have been paid.

there is no entitlement to School Term Allowance for that term.

student moves to another carer during the term

there is no entitlement to a further payment of School Term Allowance for that term.

student moves to a new carer prior to the commencement of the term

the old carer is not entitled to the School Term Allowance as the student was not in their care on the first day the student attended school for the term. If the new carer meets School Term Allowance qualification, the term payment is to be directed to the new carer.

carer's cease receipt of a qualifying payment for School Term Allowance on any day after the first day of the entitlement period, but prior to the commencement day of school in the particular term.

as long as the student still meets the requirements for that term, e.g. for term 1 commences school, etc. the applicant is still entitled to the School Term Allowance for that term (it's not prorated).

student begins to receive a disqualifying payment e.g. DVA payment, on any day after the first day of the entitlement period, but prior to the commencement day of school in the particular term.

the student is not qualified for School Term Allowance for that particular term as they are in receipt of a disqualifying payment from when school commences.
