Enrolment at more than one provider + Read more ... Alimah is undertaking a Bachelor of Arts (BA) (majoring in Classics and Ancient History) at the University of Melbourne. Alimah wishes to study Egyptology as part of the course, but this subject is not offered at her University. Alimah instead arranges part-time external enrolment with another university. The University of Melbourne has provided written advice that they will accept this study as part of the BA course. The agency will be able to count the study at both providers towards the study load requirements for her payment. |

Study in unrelated courses + Read more ... Wayne will undertake a Certificate in Automotive Engineering at the local TAFE. Due to credit for previous study Wayne has only 62% of the course workload to do. After being advised that Wayne will not be considered as a full-time student by the agency, Wayne proposes to enrol in 50% study load for a Certificate of Interior Design at the same TAFE. Both courses are approved for student payment purposes. Although Wayne is doing the equivalent of 112% of a full-time study load Wayne is not full-time in either course. The 2 courses are unrelated and subjects from one will not count towards the course requirements of the other. Wayne cannot be paid as a full-time student. |

Undertaking subjects at another provider that is not approved for student payment purposes + Read more ... Kathleen is enrolled to do a Diploma of Information Technology at the closest TAFE (an approved course). A limited bus service makes it difficult for Kathleen to get to the TAFE for the early classes on Tuesdays and Fridays. Kathleen instead proposes to undertake these subjects at the Data School of Computing (DSC) across the road from home. This provider is not approved for student payment purposes, but the TAFE will count the study at DSC towards her Diploma requirements. Kathleen has provided proof of this to the agency. In Semester 1 Kathleen will do 24% of the study load at DSC and 76% of the study at TAFE. In Semester 2, the study load at DSC will account for 26% and 74% of TAFE. Kathleen will be eligible for student payment assistance as a full-time student in Semester 1 but not in Semester 2. Although the TAFE will count the study at DSC, the agency will not as it is not an approved provider. In Semester 1 this is not an issue as Kathleen is undertaking 76% of the studies at the TAFE but in Semester 2 the TAFE study load will fall below 75%. Kathleen would not be considered to be full-time in Semester 2. |
