Undertaking full time study requirements

While each payment for students and Australian Apprentices has its own requirements, there are some areas that are similar. The type of course and the amount of study load that a student must be undertaking in order to receive one of the Services Australia's payments for students will also vary.

Student income support payments

Students or Australian Apprentices may be paid the following income support payments:

  • Youth Allowance (YA)
  • Austudy
  • ABSTUDY
  • ABSTUDY Pensioner Education Supplement (PES)
  • Pensioner Education Supplement (PES)
  • Assistance for Isolated Children (AIC)

Youth Disability Supplement (YDS)

Full-time students and Australian Apprentices who are in receipt of Youth Allowance (YA) and ABSTUDY and 21 years of age and under may be entitled to Youth Disability Supplement (YDS). The customer must be 21 years of age and under and have been assessed by an Employment Services Assessment (ESAt) as having a partial capacity to work of less than 30 hours per week.
