Dependents listed on a customer's concession card 101-06020040

Shared care - level of care required

Customers who have shared care arrangements are required to have a certain percentage of care to enable the shared care dependents to be listed on the parent/guardian's concession card.

Table 1: This table shows the percentage of care required for concession cardholders with shared care arrangements.

Payment/Concession type

Minimum level of care required

  • Family Tax Benefit (FTB)
  • Low Income Health Care Card (LIC)

Minimum 14% actual care

  • Parenting Payment (PP)

Minimum of 50% care. However, care is considered 'equal' when the difference in care is less than 10%. In cases of 'equal' care i.e. (46/54) the principal carer with less than 50% care will be entitled to have the child listed on their concession card.

Generally, the person who has the majority of care of a PP child is entitled to have the child listed on their HCC.

PP customers who have a Regular Care Child will be eligible to have the child listed on their HCC.
