Death of a dependent child of a JobSeeker Payment (JSP) or Youth Allowance (YA) customer 099-02020100
This document outlines how to record the death of dependent child of a JobSeeker Payment (JSP) or Youth Allowance (YA) customer to ensure final payments are made correctly when the death is confirmed. JSP/YA customers who have been assessed as a single principal carer are entitled to the 'with child' rate when they have a dependent child in their care. Customers are entitled to continue receiving this rate for 14 weeks after the death of their last qualifying child.

Refer to DOP team to action + Read more ... Use Fast Note – select Auto Text, use Families > Updates > Notification of child death FTB/DOP/PPL to record as much of the following information as is available:
The Notification of child death FTB/DOP/PPL template automatically adds the keyword FAOBRV to ensure the Fast Note is allocated to the DOP and Bereavement Smart Centre Processing team. There is no requirement to add additional keywords. Refer complex enquiries to the DOP/Bereavement helpdesk. Procedure ends here. |

Coding required on the Rate Component Override (RCO) screen + Read more ... Once the death action is confirmed and coded, the RCO screen must be coded to generate the 'with child' rate for the next 14 weeks. Access the RCO screen and enter:
A mandatory Manual Follow-up (MFU) will be generated when a death action is assessed on the last qualifying child of a single principal carer receiving JSP or YA. |
