Care receiver permanently enters or temporarily/permanently leaves an institution 009-06040070

Examples

This table describes examples of the date of event used if a care receiver permanently enters an institution and when the care receiver is not permanently in the institution.

Example

Description

1

Date of event

If the day the care receiver enters the institution:

  • is a respite day, Service Officers should code the date of event as the date the care receiver enters the institution
  • is not a respite day, Service Officers should code the date of events as the day after the date the care receiver enters the institution

Tom was on CP caring for Sarah on the 18 September 2010. Sarah was permanently placed in an institution on the 18 September 2010. The date of event would be 19 September 2010 unless Temporary Cessation Care (TCC) applied on the date of entry. If TCC applied on the date of entry, then the date of event would be the date of entry that is, 18 September 2010.

2

Care receiver not permanently in the institution

If it is decided that the care receiver is not in the institution permanently then the date of event previously coded should be deleted. This should undo the 14 week adjustment period count. The Service Officer will then treat the period in the institution as TCC.

Sarah entered the institution as an intended permanent placement on 10 September 2010. However, it was decided later she should be there only temporarily. The Service Officer deletes the permanent entry date of event on the Care Receiver Care and Institution Details (CRCI) screen and codes the temporary cessation of care using the TCC workflow for the period the care receiver was in the institution. As Sarah will be remaining in the institution, further temporary cessation of care will be coded with an expected end date.
