This document outlines what information can be disclosed when contacted by a tax agent, who is acting on a customer's behalf.
Tax agent contact
Tax agents may contact Services Australia on behalf of a customer to:
- query debts
- determine if the agency will access tax refunds
Seek to discuss with customer
Staff must attempt to discuss debt information directly with the customer. The agency must obtain written or verbal permission from the customer before releasing any information.
