Assessing the Assistance for Isolated Children (AIC) Marginal Distance Confirmation (SY069) 010-03020090
This document outlines how the AIC Marginal Distance Confirmation (SY069) is assessed by AIC Smart Centre staff.
Establishing entitlement
This form is completed by an appropriate authority to establish an applicant's entitlement to AIC when:
- the distance or travel time of the journey from the student's principal family home to the nearest state school is close to the qualifying limits for AIC, or
- it is not clear that an applicant's circumstances satisfy one of the geographical isolation rules
Completion of SY069
The SY069 should be issued to the applicant for completion by one of the following authorities:
- local bus company proprietor
- local shire clerk engineer
- local/state/national roads, water, or land management authority
It could be issued as part of the claim process or to review entitlement after AIC has been rejected.
If the form is lodged at a service centre, check it is complete and forward to the appropriate AIC Smart Centre.
