Australian Government assistance other than Assistance for Isolated Children (AIC) Scheme received by applicant or student 010-03030050
This document outlines when an applicant or student for AIC can get other Australian Government assistance. It includes how it may affect their eligibility for some AIC allowances or their rate of payment.
Effect of other payments on AIC
AIC is payable:
- When the applicant or their partner:
- get an income-tested pension, payment, benefit or allowance
- get Family Tax Benefit (FTB), Carer Allowance or Double Orphan Pension for the student
- holds a valid Health Care Card (HCC)
- When the student, or the applicant or their partner (on the student's behalf) gets assistance from a state or territory government.
AIC is not payable:
- When the applicant or their partner or another dependent child of the applicant and/or partner (that is, an older sibling of the student who is looking after the student in the second home) get:
- Rent Assistance (RA) for a second home and claim AIC Second Home Allowance (SHA)
- a First Home Owners Grant, or state-based first home owner assistance, in respect of the second family home and claim AIC Second Home Allowance (SHA)
- When the student, or the applicant or their partner (on the student's behalf) get:
- another Australian Government income support payment
- other Australian Government education or training assistance
Pensioner Education Supplement (PES)
Students may be eligible for AIC PES if receiving a Disability Support Pension (DSP), or Parenting Payment Single (PPS).
