This document outlines the procedure for students who attend a Defence Force Reserves training camp.

Training camps for Defence Force Reserve

A customer receiving ABSTUDY, Austudy or Youth Allowance (YA) as a full-time student can attend a training camp as a member of the Defence Force Reserve services during a vacation period. YA/ABSTUDY (full-time students) may also attend a training camp as a member of the Defence Force Reserve services during studies if they remain enrolled in their course and are making satisfactory progress. The camps may be situated within Australia or overseas. The customer must provide evidence of their training camp in the form of their Reserves papers or a letter from the Defence Force Reserves Service Commander (or similar officer).
