If a child is in immediate danger or risk of harm you must act, and a delegate must call 000. If you have concerns about a child’s safety, conduct the risk and referral process.
This document outlines the specialist supports available for customers within Services Australia.
Specialist support
When a customer (whether on income support or not) is experiencing difficult circumstances, and is in need of additional support, it may be important to either:
- consult with a specialist officer, or
- refer the customer to a specialist officer or other internal support within the agency for help
The help provided by each specialist and other internal support service varies according to their role, function, and the customer’s needs.
The following specialist services are available within Services Australia:

- Assessment Services
- Community Engagement Officers
- Community Partnerships Specialist Officers
- Financial Information Service
- Grandparent, Foster and Kinship Carer Advisers
