Deferment, non-payment period or rate reduction period for Parenting Payment Partnered (PPP) 106-05020140

Scenarios

This table contains scenarios about assessing the start day of Parenting Payment Partnered in a non-payment period or potential unemployment preclusion period.

Item

Description

1

Ryan is currently serving a post-cancellation non-payment period

Ryan’s Youth Allowance is cancelled with reason ‘mutual obligation or work refusal penalty (TCP)’ and he is currently in a post-cancellation non-payment period of 4 weeks. Ryan claims Parenting Payment Partnered (PPP) as his partner commenced full-time employment and he now has primary care of their children.

The start date of Ryan’s Parenting Payment is the first day after the end of the post-cancellation non-payment period (subject to other waiting periods that may apply).

Ryan will not have compulsory participation requirements while receiving PPP but must still wait until end of the post-cancellation non-payment period before he can receive PPP.

2

Nora claimed incorrect payment

Nora left suitable work voluntarily and claimed JobSeeker Payment. The Service Officer assessing her claim advised Nora that Parenting Payment Partnered would be a more appropriate payment for her.

The start day for Nora’s Parenting Payment will not be affected by an unemployment preclusion period.
