Compare the cost of the education provider delivering the activity at the campusEducation providers must demonstrate travel is cost effective before arranging for representatives to travel and deliver the Away from Base activity. Calculate the cost of the education provider delivering the activity at the campus. This includes the cost of:
If the education provider representative(s) is delivering a testing and assessment program or a residential school at a number of communities in one journey, include the cost of student travel from all communities when comparing costs. Note: normally the cost of FAA for transporting students to the education provider exceeds the cost of an education provider representative travelling to the community. If FAA costs for the students alone justify the activity, a comparison of the cost of accommodation and meals is not necessary. Compare the cost of education provider representative(s) travelling to deliver the activity to the cost of the students travelling to the campus. Is it cost effective for the education provider representative(s) to travel to the student's home communities to deliver the activity?
| |
Education provider limitsUp to 2 representatives may be approved to visit the student's home communities. The number of representatives must be justifiable and proportionate to the number of students who will be participating in the activity. See the Resources page for examples. For further guidance and approval processes, see Non-student travellers for ABSTUDY before proceeding. Is the number of education institution representative(s) 2 or less or has approval been given for 3 or more?
