This document outlines the process to follow for transmittal of child and/or spousal maintenance liabilities (excluding NZ).

Transmittal used by Child Support

Transmittal describes the process used by Child Support when requesting overseas jurisdictions to recognise and enforce child and spousal maintenance liabilities.

This document describes the processes used by Service Officers working in:

  • International Operations (International Mainstream Customer Services and International New Customers) when referring cases to the International Transmittal team, and
  • International Overseas team when:
    • making decisions about case suitability to transmit
    • contacting customers before a case is transmitted
    • preparing an application to an overseas jurisdiction
    • filing transmitted applications

The document also covers when and how to withdraw a request for an overseas jurisdiction to recognise and enforce child and spousal maintenance liabilities.

Note: this document does not include the process to follow when requesting New Zealand to recognise and enforce child and spousal maintenance liabilities.
